Quick Dutch Lesson 7: Using “Er is / Er zijn”

Talking about existence in Dutch is simple once you know the rule: er is for singular, er zijn for plural.

Examples:
There is a book → Er is een boek
There are two chairs → Er zijn twee stoelen
There is a cat on the chair → Er is een kat op de stoel
There are three apples → Er zijn drie appels
